Matched up against the Chicago Michael Cusack Hurling Club in Akron’s very first match of the weekend, Akron kept Chicago on their heels in the first half, but ultimately fell to the eventual 2010 Junior C Hurling Champions in the closest match the Cusack team had all weekend.

Akron then went on to participate in the shield competition and were named the winners of that bracket after playing with great teams from around the country. Akron’s 2010 Mens Junior C Hurling Shield win is a major accomplishment for a young club that continues to learn and grow. Akron would like to thank the players and fans from: Milwaukee, Seattle, and St. Louis for the great competition and camaraderie during the shield matches.
The Akron squad was proud to have represented their city, club and division, plus be part of such a fantastic weekend and large gathering of Gaelic sports athletes from all corners of North America. Akron would to salute the team members who traveled to Chicago for Nationals, and also thank the team members who couldn’t make the trip, but practiced all year long and played hard in the 2010 City Series, because without their hard work and dedication, this year’s giant leap forward would not have been possible.
Akron Hurling is not yet done for the 2010 season, as they look forward to some upcoming travel matches, the Fall City Series, and capping things off by hosting teams here in Akron at the annual Al O'Leary Tournament in October, but they can also take a look back at where they started this year and say thank you to all who have made this season truly special.
